Savory and Sweet Stovetop Popcorn Delight
This stovetop popcorn recipe combines the classic crunch of popcorn with unexpected flavors like smoked paprika, nutritional yeast, and a hint of maple syrup for a unique twist.
Start by gathering all your ingredients and equipment. Heat a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.
Add the vegetable oil to the pot and let it heat for about 2 minutes. Place 3-4 popcorn kernels in the pot and cover it with a lid.
Wait until the kernels pop to know the oil is hot enough. Once the test kernels have popped, remove them and add the rest of the popcorn kernels to the pot.
Cover the pot with the lid and shake it gently to distribute the heat. Allow the popcorn to pop, shaking the pot occasionally to prevent burning.
Once the popping slows down to about 2 seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat. Carefully take off the lid to avoid steam burns.
In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, and nutritional yeast. Drizzle the melted butter and maple syrup over the popcorn.
Sprinkle the spice mixture over the popcorn and toss well to coat evenly. Serve immediately in a large bowl and enjoy your flavorful popcorn!
