Matilda's Chocolate Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Stir in the vanilla extract and mix until combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until smooth.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, prepare the chocolate frosting by beating together the butter, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth and creamy.
Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
