Homemade Pizza Dough
This homemade pizza dough is easy to make and yields a deliciously chewy crust that is perfect for any pizza topping you desire.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add the olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture and stir to combine. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a dough begins to form.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Divide the dough into two equal portions for two pizzas or keep it whole for one large pizza.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) while you prepare your toppings.
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Add your favorite toppings and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
