Fancy T-Bone Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus
This elegant meal features a perfectly cooked T-bone steak paired with creamy garlic mashed potatoes and tender asparagus, creating a delightful dining experience.
Start by gathering all the ingredients needed for the meal. Season the T-bone steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it is very hot. Add a tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet and let it heat for a minute.
Place the seasoned T-bone steak in the skillet and sear it for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it.
Flip the steak and add a couple of tablespoons of butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Baste the steak with the melted butter and garlic for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare doneness.
Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. While the steak is resting, peel and chop the potatoes into chunks.
Place the potatoes in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook the potatoes for about 15-20 minutes or until they are fork-tender.
Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, cream, and minced garlic to the potatoes and mash until smooth and creamy.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. For the asparagus, trim the ends and toss them with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
In the same skillet used for the steak, add the asparagus and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender and slightly charred.
To serve, place a generous scoop of garlic mashed potatoes on each plate, add the sautéed asparagus, and slice the T-bone steak to serve alongside.
