When Yummly shut down, a big gap appeared for anyone who relied on smart, personalized guidance. We’re excited to fill that gap with a fresh approach—lean, ad-free, and designed around efficiency. Whether you have five ingredients or fifty, Yumara turns them into clear, step-by-step meals so you can spend less time searching and more time enjoying great food.
What Was Yummly?
For more than a decade Yummly was a popular recipe-discovery site and app. It helped millions of home cooks:
- search a huge catalog of curated recipes
- save personal collections (“Yums”)
- filter by time, diet, cuisine, and ingredients
- get step-by-step guidance with compatible smart thermometers
Yummly proved that tech can make dinner planning faster and more fun.
Why Did It Go Away?
In late 2024 Yummly’s parent company, Whirlpool, announced it would shut the service down as part of a shift back to core appliance lines. The apps and website were sunset in December 2024, leaving a big hole for anyone who relied on its tools.
Enter Yumara
Yumara is a fresh, independent project created to tackle the same everyday cooking problems—this time with generative AI at the center.
- AI-generated recipes. Instead of a static catalog, Yumara creates recipes on demand, tailored to your cravings, dietary needs, and whatever’s in the fridge.
- Instant inspiration. Type “15-minute spicy vegetarian tacos” or paste a list of lonely ingredients; you’ll get a complete recipe in seconds.
- Free and ad-free. Cooking should feel creative, not commercial.
We don’t yet match every feature Yummly had (meal-planning calendars, social “Yums,” smart-device integrations), but we release improvements every week—guided by your feedback.
