How AI Taught Me to Finally Cook Chicken
First things first: if you just want the recipe, and not my life story, it's here:
The Problem
I have always been really bad at cooking chicken. My main strategy was usually to buy some chicken breasts, salt and pepper them and throw them in the oven on a pan. Result: extremely freaking dry chicken, every time.
This went on for a while. I would often google recipes for chicken, and I'd usually get the same sort of results. Bake it in the oven, it'll be great! Not for me. Always dry.
Giving Up
I kind of gave up, honestly.
Years later, I bought a Le Creuset braiser. The idea was that it would encourage me to cook, and perhaps even cook better. But where to start? As a busy parent, it's tough to find the time.
Enter AI
So I did what any busy person does these days: I opened up ChatGPT and asked it what I should cook in my braiser.
I didn't have high hopes; if all the google search cooking influencer gurus couldn't save my chicken, surely a token-generating machine would be of little use.
But I was intrigued by what it gave me: Braised Chicken Thighs with Vegetables in a Le Creuset Braiser. Hm. Actually sounds kinda good...
The Meal
So, I followed the instructions. I made a couple substitutions — I was in a rush. Cento peeled tomatoes chopped instead of crushed. Why not? No time. Gotta eat.
About 30 minutes later, on the table in front of me was a really delicious-looking meal. Moist chicken thighs, surrounded by soft veggies and spices.
I cut into the chicken, and the meat fell off the bone. !!!! I took a bite, and it was literally the best chicken I had ever made.
I was always confused going out to restaurants and ordering chicken. How are they so good at it? Why am I so bad?
I Can Now Cook Chicken
Now, thanks to AI, I'm not so bad. I'm not about to open a restaurant any time soon, sure, but I know I can make good chicken. Pretty great.
